Here are a few tips.
1. Don't give up after the first try. You have to find the option that works best with your body chemistry so it may take a few tries.
2. Pastes tend to work the best for odor protection. Nic and I both love and use Type A deodorant daily. It's an easy to apply, squeeze tube free of harmful chemicals, and sweat activated so it works when you work! It comes in 7 scents. I use Modern Spice and Nic likes Ocean Mint. The Fresh Rain + Bergamot is also really nice. If you guys want to give it a try click here and use our coupon code for 20% off. COACHCALIE20. You can also buy an unscented option and add a few drops of bacteria killing essential oil for added protection. Melaleuca is one of my favorites for this job, but lavender and ylang ylang also work really well. Just avoid citrus oils (lemon, wild orange, bergamot, lime, etc.) in the summer and they're photosensitive.
3. You may have to reapply throughout the day to keep things fresh. Keep a small container of your natural deodorant in your purse and reapply once or twice a day. It's a little effort for a lot of added protection. Or try carrying these
deodorant wipes with you. They work really well for a quick refresher post run, workout class, or day at the pool.
4. If you're not getting the results you want from any natural deodorant, I highly recommend trying an underarm detox. It's worth the effort to keep the chemicals off your skin and out of your body and it can make a big difference in improving any body odor issues. You can also try dry brushing to speed up the detox process in your body and don't underestimate the power of nutrition changes. When you clean up your diet your body has fewer toxins to release so your detox organs, including your skin, and exit sites (armpits) won't have to work so hard.
How to Detox Your Armpits:
In a glass bowl, mix together 1 Tablespoon of Bentonite Clay with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of water. Spread a layer of the mixture over your clean, dry armpits and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes to start. You can work up to longer periods of up to 10 minutes, but you'll want to see how your body responds first. If it starts to feel irritating, rinse it off. Once the mixture has been sitting for about 5 minutes, wash it off with a warm, wet washcloth. Repeat regularly until your natural deodorant starts working for you and you no longer experience any irritation.
One more tip: If your underarms are sensitive to natural deodorant, choose an option that is baking soda free. It makes a huge difference.
